3. Jose Altuve

Houston’s All-Star second baseman continued his horrid offseason with an 0-for-4 outing at the top of the order on Tuesday night. After hitting just .094 (3-for-32) through the ALDS and ALCS, Altuve looked like he might be turning the corner once the World Series began, logging a 4-for-9 performance in the first two games of the Fall Classic. However, Tuesday night’s performance was once again dreadful for Altuve, who was greeted with plenty of boos from the Phillies faithful every time he stepped to the plate.

While much of the focus on the Game 3 loss will focus on how McCullers was bashed early by Philadelphia batters, Houston’s offense never gave the Astros a chance to rally. Altuve was one of three Astros batters (Yordan Alvarez and Chas McCormick being the others) to leave a pair of men on base (Kyle Tucker left three on). Again, it wasn’t much, but the Astros didn’t take advantage of any of the few opportunities given to them.

Houston will have to figure out how to get Altuve back on track for Game 4 as a way to kickstart the offense in the hopes of evening the World Series at two wins each.
