Packers trade rumors: Chase Claypool

The Green Bay Packers were linked heavily to Chase Claypool, formerly of the Steelers. At the last minute, the Chicago Bears swopped in and offered Pittsburgh general manager Omar Khan an offer he couldn’t refuse.

The Bears gave the Steelers a second-round pick — a high asking price, of course — for Claypool, who himself is a former Day 2 draft selection. It guaranteed the Steelers little to no depreciation of value from when they selected Claypool in the first place out of Notre Dame.

Brian Gutekunst and the Packers value draft capital, but to what cost? Claypool has the potential to be a No. 1 threat, and that is something Green Bay is severely lacking.

Missing out on Claypool is one thing. Getting outbid by your greatest rival is another entirely. It could haunt the Packers, and Aaron Rodgers, for years to come should his career end in disappointment.

Next. 3 Packers trades and moves that could save Green Bay’s season. dark
