Phillies World Series all but locked up thanks to Taco Bell analytics
By Rylie Smith
The Philadelphia Phillies are just two games away from winning the World Series, and thanks to Taco Bell analytics, they just might do so.
In a time when the Philadelphia Phillies didn’t seem likely to be playing in the World Series, they’ve defied all odds and became one of the most intriguing teams in the league this season. They have a mysterious aura to them creating fascinating questions: Where did this level of success come from? How did they beat the Atlanta Braves?
To add to the mysteriousness, Taco Bell analytics are now part of the prediction of who will win the World Series. One may be wondering, ‘What does Taco Bell have to do with this?’ Much more than most would think. Jared Carrabis broke down the correlation between whose team steals a base to win America free tacos and winning the World Series.
A whopping 80 percent of the time, the player who stole the base’s team went on to win the World Series. In this case, Kyle Schwarber of the Phillies stole the taco base, increasing the odds of winning the championship.
For those who may not trust the power Taco Bell holds, there’s proof in the cards that show a strong likeliness that the Phils will actually win.
The Phillies’ chances of winning the World Series look tasty
Based off of non-fast food observations, the Phillies may still be on their way to a World Series win. They’ve proven time and time again to take advantage of opportunities to hit when they arise, and the Astros are no different. In Game 1, Justin Verlander wasn’t pitching nearly as well as he did during the regular season, and the Phillies managed to come up from a 5-0 deficit and win the game in the 10th inning.
In Game 3, Lance McCullers was no match for Philadelphia as they bounced homers off his pitches like there was no tomorrow. In their first home World Series game since 2009, they shut out the Astros 7-0. They’ve yet to lose a postseason game at home in 2022. They have two home World Series games left, and they need two more wins to secure the title. Things are seeming to line up perfectly for the Phillies.
They’ve also held some of the best postseason stats, leading the league in runs (72), hits (104), doubles (28), home runs (22), RBIs (71), total bases (198), walks (42) and slugging percentage (.443).
The unlikely underdogs are just two wins away from ending up on top, and Taco Bell may just be the extra luck they need.
