3) Will Smith – Boston Red Sox

The Astros have a $13 million team option on left-handed reliever Will Smith but they are almost certainly not going to exercise it. After all, they had Smith on their playoff rosters but did not use him a single time.

In the regular season, he had mixed results between the Braves and Astros (who acquired him at the trade deadline). In 65 games, he had a 3.97 ERA, a 102 ERA+, a 4.27 FIP, a 1.407 WHIP, and an average of 3.8 walks and 9.9 strikeouts per nine innings.

A team that could be a fit for Smith is the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox had one of the worst bullpens in the sport in 2022. Their 4.59 ERA was 26th in the sport. They had a few left-handed relievers on their team but Jake Diekman was traded and Austin Davis had an ERA of 5.47. The only one who was effective was Matt Strahm.
