Chicago Cubs starting lineup: Brandon Nimmo batting second, CF

The front office doesn’t stop at Turner when it comes to the free agent market. They also ink center fielder Brandon Nimmo to take over at a position of some great need. Although Christopher Morel is a very likely starter for them in 2023 and not such a bad choice, we’re allowed to dream here, right?

Nimmo has been one of the league’s best leadoff hitters for several years. With the New York Mets, he has been a master at getting on base. He draws walks, gets hit by pitches, and does hit with some decent power.

Nimmo has also developed into a pretty good defender. The center field market in free agency rarely offers a player like him. Because this is all a dream and not a nightmare, the Cubs manage to sign him and get an answer at the position that no one can be too upset about.

Turner is much quicker than Nimmo and more prone to stealing bases. Because of this, Nimmo drops to the number two spot as a new member of the Cubs. The team has completely rebuilt the top of the order and have two fantastic table-setters before we get to the guys whose job it will be to drive in runs.
