Chicago Cubs starting lineup: Seiya Suzuki batting sixth, RF
Returning to right field for the 2023 Cubs is Seiya Suzuki. While the debut season for him was a little unimpressive, he was solid enough.
Suzuki batted .262/.366/.433 with 14 home runs last year. The team will be hoping to get a little more from him in the coming year. He’ll start off this dream batting sixth but could certainly move up in the order with some impressive play.
Suzuki was one of the bigger additions the team made last offseason in addition to signing Marcus Stroman. One of several Cubs players returning to the team both in reality and this dream starting lineup, there is a lot to like about him.
Still only 28, last year might have included some big adjustments to the league and his lifestyle. It’s not easy to move to a new country and thrive at work immediately.
Suzuki smashed 38 home runs in his final season over in Japan. This might be a few too many to expect from him in a Chicago uniform. However, an increase from the 14 from 2022 is very realistic. Give the fans 20 dingers and improvements in each slash line number and Suzuki can be a big part of this dream lineup.
