College Football Playoff rankings 2022: Projected Week 11 Top 25 after LSU upsets Alabama, Georgia routs Tennessee, Clemson upset
Projected College Football Playoff rankings after Week 10: No. 4-3
4. TCU Horned Frogs
TCU really needs to start caring about style points (or maybe just about early-game defense). Sonny Dykes’ team is now one of only four undefeated teams remaining in the country this season after they used yet another fourth-quarter surge to earn a 34-24 victory over Texas Tech. But considering they were ranked behind one-loss Alabama in the initial CFP rankings, it’s clear that the committee needs to see the style points as well.
Max Duggan continues to put up nice numbers and it’s near impossible for TCU to score under 30 points at this point. At the same time, the defense has been a bit generous early on in games before tightening up. That’s something that will need to change with a matchup against Texas looming large in the near future if the Horned Frogs want to take the Hypnotoad all the way to the Playoff.
3. Michigan Wolverines
On a day filled with Top 10 teams biting the dust, the first half of Michigan taking the trip to Piscataway to face a lowly Rutgers team seemed to indicate that the Wolverines were heading in that direction. They trailed 17-14 going into the locker room and hadn’t looked good on either side of the ball. That’s when the second half came around.
Apparently, Jim Harbaugh’s team was just sleepy or forgot to get their motivation off of the bus with them but they found it during the break. Michigan went on to score 38 unanswered points in the second half behind Blake Corum and J.J. McCarthy going off and the defense just completely tore down the Scarlet Knights. And with the chaos everywhere else, all of the fans in Ann Arbor upset that the Wolverines weren’t in the Top 4 will now get to celebrate in Week 11 as the No. 3 team.
