College Football Playoff rankings 2022: Projected Week 11 Top 25 after LSU upsets Alabama, Georgia routs Tennessee, Clemson upset
Projected College Football Playoff rankings after Week 10: No. 6-5
6. Oregon Ducks
If there are people waiting for the wheels to fall off for Bo Nix (you know, because we all saw the rollercoaster that was his time with the Auburn Tigers), that was never going to happen on Saturday. Yes, Oregon had to go on the road to Boulder to face Colorado, but the Buffaloes are one of the worst teams in the country this season, and that’s what ultimately played out on the field against a legitimate Top 10 team.
Nix was in his bag in this game as he scored a touchdown in every way with two passing scores, two rushing scores and even a receiving touchdown on a gadget play. This was basically an exhibition for the Ducks and they looked dominant, which is exactly what you want good teams to do in this type of matchup. But with a tough remaining slate against Washington, Utah and at Oregon State looming, Dan Lanning’s team still has a chance to pave a path to the Playoff.
5. Tennessee Volunteers
There’s no question that Tennessee is still one of the best teams in the country. So too are the Oregon Ducks. But in college football, there are levels to this thing and what was made abundantly clear is that Georgia is on another level than the Vols and, frankly, maybe than any other team in the country.
Hendon Hooker and this orange-clad offense ran like a hot knife through butter over every defense they came up against before Saturday. Then they got between the hedges and Hooker lost his composure, there was no smoothness to the offense and we all know that the defense has had its warts in its own right.
Tennessee isn’t out of the College Football Playoff just yet, especially with Clemson losing on Saturday. But now the path is going to require a lot more help as the Vols almost surely aren’t bound for the SEC Championship Game now.
