Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was part of a struggling offense on Sunday Night Football but a Patrick Mahomes interception sent him over the edge.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand why anyone on the Kansas City Chiefs would be upset during Sunday Night Football and the team’s matchup with the Tennessee Titans, an opponent that has been a thorn in the side of Andy Reid’s team in recent years.

The Chiefs’ explosive offense was getting wholly held in-check by the Titans defense as Kansas City went into halftime trailing 14-9 and getting blanked on drive after drive. Star tight end Travis Kelce and quarterback Patrick Mahomes were trying to get things rolling out of the half, though, but things were still out of synch.

And there was perhaps no better example of that than in the third quarter when Mahomes tried to hit Kelce with a quick pass right at the line of scrimmage and a little miscommunication caused the tight end to bobble the ball up in the air only for a Tennessee defender to take it out of the air for the interception.

Travis Kelce goes ballistic, hurls helmet at Chiefs sideline after Mahomes INT

That was certainly a momentum-swinging play, but it was also one that sent Kelce over the edge. As he walked off the field, he let out a yell and threw his helmet with the force of a Street Fighter Hadouken towards the Kansas City sideline.

That’s a man who is clearly infuriated by the performance he and the offense had been putting forth against Tennessee.

It’s hard to say whether Travis Kelce was more angry at himself or Mahomes after the turnover, but he most definitely took it all out on his helmet after the play. His fire, however, didn’t spark the Chiefs offense thereafter as the team still went into the fourth quarter trailing 17-9.
