Ryan Day is a noted Chip Kelly disciple and has some NFL coaching experience

Ryan Day may have one of the very best jobs in all of college football at Ohio State, but he does have some previous NFL coaching experience on his resume. The noted Chip Kelly disciple played quarterback for the former New Hampshire offensive coordinator in college. He also served as Kelly’s quarterbacks coach with the 2015 Philadelphia Eagles and the 2016 San Francisco 49ers.

Day has shown that he can develop quarterbacks while at Ohio State. With the Colts circling the drain after the Reich firing, Indianapolis may be bad enough to be in position to trade up to get Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud with a top-three pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. This would be akin to Dabo Swinney potentially leaving Clemson to go coach Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville in 2021.

Although he does not have NFL head-coaching experience, Day has plenty at the collegiate level.

Head Coach. Lane Kiffin. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Ole Miss Rebels. 3. player. 841

Lane Kiffin is insanely innovative offensively and may not be for long at Ole Miss

Lane Kiffin leaving Ole Miss to become an NFL head coach for the second time is not that shocking. He may have been way too young to lead the then-Oakland Raiders, but that was well over a decade ago. In the last six years, all Kiffin has done is win at the college level as a head coach, first with the Florida Atlantic Owls and now with the Ole Miss Rebels. He has truly evolved.

People tend to forget that the incredibly innovative Kiffin is the son of one of the greatest defensive minds in NFL history in Monte Kiffin. Hitting his stride in his mid-to-late 40s, Kiffin could be exactly what a bland offense like the Colts needs. Trust me when I say this, it is much harder to win prolifically at a place like Ole Miss than in the NFL with the Colts. Kiffin could make this work.

Based strictly off his coaching career since linking up with Nick Saban, Kiffin has to be a candidate.
