A look at what a dream Boston Red Sox starting lineup would look like for the 2023 season.

The Boston Red Sox could look a lot different in 2023 than they did in 2022. They’re losing a lot of free agents, but that doesn’t mean they can’t invite some of the most important ones back.

The Red Sox rarely take too much time off from the postseason. After missing it in 2022, they should be in a position to take a step forward toward competing much better in the coming season.

A big part of that will be assembling the best starting lineup they can. Because this is the offseason where anything can happen, fans can dream a little bit harder about what the best starting lineup possible for this team can look like. This is one example of how it could look.

1) Dream Red Sox starting lineup: Brandon Nimmo batting first, CF

Center field is a position the Red Sox could improve. Enrique Hernandez wasn’t quite good enough for them in 2022. He’d be better off as a utility man for them.

In this dream scenario, the Red Sox spend on free agent center fielder Brandon Nimmo and grab themselves a new leadoff hitter for the 2023 season.

Nimmo is the dream center fielder for any ball club with an opening at the position. He has been one of the game’s best OBP guys in recent seasons as a member of the New York Mets. He might not have enough speed to steal bases but he does everything well. He’s even a pretty good fielder now after years of criticism in the Big Apple.

It’s hard to be disappointed if the Red Sox snatch this free agent outfielder and make him a part of their 2023 dream team.
