What would a dream Red Sox starting lineup look like next season?

4) Dream Red Sox starting lineup: Aaron Judge batting fourth, RF

Oh, baby! Will it happen? Only in our wildest dreams. And this is a dream lineup, after all.

The Red Sox are the ones who end the Aaron Judge reign in the Bronx. He completes the ultimate heel turn on the New York Yankees and signs with their greatest rival. Social media will explode. Even the greatest heels around the world will think Judge went too far.

Imagine the pandemonium. This isn’t Johnny Damon or Jacoby Ellsbury. This is Aaron Judge a year after hitting 62 home runs.

While a fourth-place spot in the lineup does maybe limit the number of at-bats he’d have in a season, the Red Sox can adjust and maybe swap him out with someone else so he can bat second or third. To at least begin this dream, he’s up fourth in our lineup.

5) Dream Red Sox starting lineup: Trevor Story batting fifth, 2B

Trevor Story’s first year with the Red Sox wasn’t what anyone expected. It was a big disappointment all things considered. The Red Sox signed him despite already having Bogaerts for at least another year. He became the starting second baseman and the same situation remains as we close our eyes and drift into unconsciousness.

Story might not be a piece everyone would have in their dream Red Sox lineups, but it’s going to take one very tough trade to move on from him. Because this is a dream, we can have him do anything we want — like bat .290 and crush 30 home runs.

We should expect bigger things from Story in 2023. It wasn’t all Coors Field that made him so exceptional during his days with the Colorado Rockies. Behind Judge, in this mouthwatering lineup, how can he not be an All-Star?
