Projected College Football Playoff rankings after Week 11: No. 15-11

15. Washington Huskies

It doesn’t get talked about enough how Harvey Dent-ish Washington can be considering that they lost handily to UCLA and followed that up with a wild upset loss to Arizona State. They also let Cal play them close, but then beat Oregon State last week. Now they used some late-game heroics from a suspect defense and Michael Penix Jr.’s passing ability to knock off Oregon in a game that boosts the Huskies a ton.

14. Ole Miss Rebels

There were plenty of people that weren’t giving Ole Miss even a chance against Alabama, even with Saturday’s game in Oxford. That proved to be a mistake as Lane Kiffin had his former mentor Nick Saban on the ropes and even had a shot on the final drive to get the win. Ultimately, it’s the second loss for the Rebs. At the same time, though, you have to come away with more respect for Ole Miss than prior to kickoff.

13. Penn State Nittany Lions

It was a little bit of a tricky spot for Penn State given that their run at the Big Ten East has been done-for and that they have a limited ceiling in the rankings. That then brought Maryland and its tricky offense and sneaky defense to town. But it speaks to the quality of James Franklin’s Nittany Lions that PSU protected Beaver Stadium ferociously in a suffocating 30-0 win on Saturday to belittle the Terps.

12. Utah Utes

While UCLA was unable to take care of business in the Pac-12 After Dark slate, Utah undoubtedly made Stanford look like it didn’t belong. The Utes allowed a first-quarter touchdown that actually put them behind 7-0 at the end of 15 minutes. But from that point, Cameron Rising led this offense to 42 unanswered points in a blowout victory that keeps making Utah look as if its hitting its stride.

11. North Carolina Tar Heels

Mack Brown has an imperfect team but, at some point, North Carolina needs to get is due as it clinched the ACC Coastal with its win over Wake Forest on Saturday night and still has only one loss on the year. Drake Maye is the goods as he totaled 500 yards on the night in the win over the Demon Deacs and the defense actually made key plays to secure the win as some injuries started to crop up. Keep sleeping on UNC but the Heels keep winning.
