2. Bringing back Chris Martin is another option for the Braves bullpen

In the shortened 2020 season after coming over in a 2019 trade, Chris Martin was nails as a key figure in the Braves bullpen. Over 19 apperances that season, Martin had a 1.00 ERA and a preposterous 0.611 WHIP over that season, which raised hopes for him the following year.

While Martin did help along the way to Atlanta winning its first World Series since 1995, there was an overall decline in effectiveness as his ERA balooned to 3.95. Put simply, he was far less consistent.

That led to him signing elsewhere last offseason, ending up with the Cubs. He was still inconsistent there but ultimately was traded to the Dodgers midseason and seemingly recaptured the dominant stuff that he had with the Braves in 2020. Over 26 apperances with LA, Martin had a 1.46 ERA with a 0.527 WHIP, which was just pure dominance whenever he took the bump.

Much like with Kimbrel, this is a reunion that would make a ton of sense for Atlanta given their need to bolster the bullpen. He’s a veteran familiar with this team and coaching staff that has proven he can be downright filthy. If there is faith that he can be more of the dominant reliever that he was in 2020 and down the stretch a season ago, he’d be a tremendous addition for the Braves this offseason.
