3) Yankees rumors could have them sending Gleyber Torres to the Miami Marlins

The Mariners are hoping to win next year. So are the White Sox. What about the Miami Marlins?

The Marlins are typically uncompetitive, but definitely a destination for Torres. Even though they employ Jazz Chisholm Jr., there are always ways around it. They could always send Chisholm elsewhere and look to move forward with Torres on their roster.

There have already been Yankees rumors about their interest in Marlins pitcher Pablo Lopez. Revisiting this trade deadline target of theirs is something to do this winter. Few, if any, starting pitcher trade candidates have emerged this offseason. The Yankees have to consider making at least one upgrade.

Torres for Lopez with maybe a few other pieces added in makes sense for both clubs. The Yankees add a pitcher and clear out a roster spot for a possible upgrade elsewhere. The Marlins get a young and controllable hitter with power. They desperately lacked guys who can crush baseballs last year.

The Yankees may have soured on Torres, but plenty of teams could view him as a finishing touch to their roster. The Mariners, White Sox, and Marlins are all fits. We can also never rule out the mystery team. Because he is now playing a position without much depth around the league, Torres is someone the Yankees would be wise to sell high even if they aren’t so interested in keeping him around.
