3. Red Sox fans should not want to see the Dodgers sign Xander Bogaerts

Bogaerts ending up way out in Hollywood with the Los Angeles Dodgers might not seem too bad. The Orioles can have Correa. The Phillies can get Trea Turner. The Cubs can even end up with Dansby Swanson. Where does this leave the Dodgers?

In an offseason with plenty of shortstops on the move, the Dodgers are a curious team. They can move Gavin Lux to the position if they feel Turner isn’t the right fit. What if these typical big spenders do something bold and bring Bogaerts into the picture?

Red Sox fans have already had to suffer watching Mookie Betts win a lot with the Dodgers. It’s almost like history repeating itself. Betts already has one championship with the Dodgers. The team is certainly already in contention to take another. Imagine if it happens with Bogaerts on the roster.

A quick look back at the trade which sent Betts and David Price to the Dodgers, it doesn’t look like Red Sox fans have reaped any rewards from it. Alex Verdugo has been okay. Jeter Downs and Connor Wong have done very little at the major league level. This trade has turned into a major win for Los Angeles.

There are a lot of places where Bogaerts can sign and Red Sox fans can forget about him. The Dodgers aren’t one of those places. Joining an already stacked roster will give people in Boston a constant reminder of what their team lost.
