Yankees: 3 backup plans if Aaron Judge signs with the Giants

Yankees backup plans if Aaron Judge leaves: Find a way to win without power
Finally, the Yankees can keep Cabrera as their starting right fielder and see how he develops. It’s not the best plan whatsoever. The Yankees will still need to spend money in order to fill the hole left by Judge. This would involve finding a new way to win.
The Yankees are a powerful team right now even with Judge removed. They should be looking for at least one outfielder capable of swatting 30 home runs. Aside from this, they could invest in other areas.
The pitching is a place that would make the most sense to spend. The Yankees had a spectacular staff last season. It seemed like any starter they asked to step up executed. The same went for the bullpen. Despite several major injuries, relievers seemed to come through for them.
The 2023 Yankees might be less about star power and more focused on depth. Going back to the $40 million to spend on Judge, maybe they only slightly upgrade the offense and become more of a pitching-focused ball club. The Yankees were a well-balanced team last year. They can go after high-batting average players instead of trying to replicate Judge’s power through multiple players.
Whatever it is the Yankees have planned if Judge signs with the Giants, it’s not going to be easy. An outfielder is a must. By every means necessary, they should do the obvious thing and keep the star slugger in town.
