3. Showcase Matisse Thybulle and trade him away for value

The time to trade defensive ace, Matisse Thybulle was this past offseason. That time came and went with no deal. A couple of years ago, Thybulle was the talk of Philadelphia. Alongside Ben Simmons, the two made up one of the toughest defensive pairs in the league. The thought at the time was that he’d grow into a valuable offensive player after playing more minutes. Unfortunately, this thought never materialized.

Thybulle has spent most of this season on the bench averaging only 11 minutes per game as compared to the 20-plus minutes per game in the last three seasons. On top of that, he’s averaging a mere 1.4 points per game. So any trade value that he possessed over the summer has been drastically diminished by this point.

Therefore, if the 76ers actually want to deal Thybulle, it’ll take a bit of strategy on their part because right now he’s worth very little. To prop up his value, the Sixers should increase his minutes back to where they were in previous years, especially with injuries to the big three, and see if they can work him into the offense more readily. If they can turn him into more of threat on that side of the ball in the short term, then it’s possible they could find a team struggling defensively who’d be interested. But the Thybulle trade scenario remains a bit more complicated than some other options on this list.
