1. Jordan Love falls completely flat, putting Packers in position to draft a QB

Make no mistake, if what we saw from Love in relief is his only good moment of the 2022 season, that’s going to be painful for Packers fans to watch. However, in the long run, it might be the best thing for this organization moving forward into a new era.

The primary question with the Rodgers-Love dynamic right now is whether or not the latter is actually the guy who needs to be the successor of the former. And to be frank, we don’t know the answer to that question. But if Aaron Rodgers gets shut down, there will be at least some data points for the franchise to look at. If those data points are not favorable, then it’s time to blow it up.

Should Love perform poorly in the case that he takes over for Rodgers for the rest of the season, Green Bay will know they need a new quarterback as the veteran isn’t long for either the Packers, the NFL (or both) at this point in his career. In this situation, though, they could trade Rodgers for more draft capital to fill numerous other roster holes while also using a high draft pick resulting from Love’s struggles to select a franchise prospect like Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud or so on.

It might be a tiresome final month-plus for the Cheeseheads to see things play out like this, but for the future of the organization and its pursuit of success, it would undoubtedly be the most profitable outcome should the Packers shut down Rodgers.
