The Saints were coming off a win over the defending Super Bowl champion Rams and were headed to the West Coast to take on the 49ers. But it would prove to be a rough afternoon for Dennis Allen’s team, which managed only 260 total yards on 53 offensive plays.

The Saints’ defense probably deserved a better fate. But running back Alvin Kamara was limited to 50 yards from scrimmage and he lost a pair of fumbles in the shutout setback.

The Colts hosted the Steelers on Monday night in a contest between two of the AFC’s more disappointing clubs. Jeff Saturday’s squad was limited to three points and 71 total yards in the first half.

The Colts’ special teams sparked a second-half comeback and Indianapolis took a 17-16 lead in the third quarter, but Saturday’s defense would allow 172 yards rushing and veteran quarterback Matt Ryan wound up committing two costly turnovers.

Kliff Kingsbury’s club hosted the Chargers off Monday night’s loss to the 49ers in Mexico City. Quarterback Kyler Murray and wideout Marquise Brown back on the field and the club owned a 10-0 second-quarter lead.

James Conner ran for 120 yards and his six-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter gave the Cards a 24-17 edge, but the Bolts got a Justin Herbert TD pass to Austin Ekeler and a successful two-point conversion with 15 seconds to play.

The Steelers were in Indianapolis on Monday night to take on Colts, and Mike Tomlin’s team not only owned a 16-3 lead at intermission but outgained their hosts, 232-71, in the first 30 minutes.

Pittsburgh would fall behind by one point in the third quarter but would respond with an 11-play, 75-yard drive that culminated with a two-yard TD run by Benny Snell. A two-point conversion gave Pittsburgh a 24-17 lead and the defense would secure the win.
