USMNT star Christian Pulisic appeared to injure his groin on the squad’s first goal of the match against Iran.

Despite a plethora of chances early, it wasn’t until after the 35th minute that the United States was able to finally get on the board. A brilliant cross from Sergino Dest set up Pulisic, often deemed Captain America and the first of what many expected to be a golden generation for United States soccer, who promptly dispatched of the ball in the back of the net.

Pulisic, however, was injured after the play. He was able to stay in the game until halftime at the very least.

For the United States, advancing is simple — all they need to do is defeat Iran. It can be by one goal or 10, it really does not matter. Should they fail to accomplish that task, they’ll likely be watching the rest of the tournament from home.

The United States ended the first 45 minutes-plus with a 1-0 lead thanks to Pulisic. Should they survive the next 45 against a tough Iran side, they’ll advance to the knockout round.
