2. Heat should trade for Eric Gordon

This season, the Heat are 23rd in the NBA in offensive rating. Only four players on their roster (Jimmy Butler, Dewayne Dedmon, Tyler Herro, and Kyle Lowry) have a positive Offensive Box Plus-Minus. With no timetable for Victor Oladipo’s return, acquiring an offensive-minded guard is a good idea.

Gordon has been an excellent shooter throughout his 14-year career. Last season, he made 42.8 percent of his catch-and-shoot 3s. He can also score off the dribble. This season, Gordon is making 52.6 percent of his field goal attempts in possessions in which he took seven or more dribbles. The 5-15 Rockets are not looking to contend this season, so moving Gordon would make a lot of sense.

Here is a potential trade.

Duncan Robinson is playing a reduced role for the Heat. During the playoffs, he averaged a mere 12.2 minutes per game. This season, he is playing 17.6 minutes per game, which is a far cry from his average of 31.4 minutes in 2020-21. So, the Heat flip Robinson and a lottery-protected first-round pick for Gordon.

On the other side, the rebuilding Rockets buy low on Robinson and take on the four years left on his contract, while adding a first-round pick.
