Jerry Stackhouse’s ejection in Vanderbilt-VCU was one for the ages (Video)

Vanderbilt head coach Jerry Stackhouse was ejected in a loss to VCU, and the optics were both shocking and hilarious. 

It’s not often you see an A-10 team like VCU beat an SEC team like Vanderbilt, and it’s very rare to see someone like Commodores head coach Jerry Stackhouse lose his cool.

So amidst the Rams’ 70-65 win over the Commodores, Stackhouse was notably displeased with a call towards senior Liam Robbins that resulted in a technical foul. Stackhouse went ballistic at the referees, resulting in an ejection.

No doubt Stackhouse was mad. That said, this paints him in a very bad light. The Commodores have already been struggling, and now this image paints a bad look despite the passion he shows for his players.

Robbins had 14 points in the defeat, and forward Myles Stude led the Commodores with 20 points and six rebounds. Guard Ezra Manjon was the third Commodore to chip in double-digit points with 12 while recording three rebounds and four assists.

On the other side, the Rams were clicking. Guard Ace Baldwin, back after missing four games with a right wrist injury, dropped 28 points, including four three-pointers. Vanderbilt could also not contain the Rams’ Jamir Watkins, who scored 13 points. Michigan transfer Zeb Jackson came off the bench for VCU and chipped in five points.

Still, all eyes will and should be on Jerry Stackhouse. The longtime NBA player was hired at Vanderbilt back in 2019 on a six-year deal, and last season, the Commodores reached the NIT quarterfinals after a 19-17 record. It will be interesting to see what happens to Stackhouse after this appalling incident.
