In one of the most important games of the weekend slate, No. 10 Kansas State will take on undefeated No. 3 TCU in the Big 12 Championship Game.

All that stands in the way of the TCU Horned Frogs making the College Football Playoff for the first time ever might be the Kansas State Wildcats…

TCU is one of three undefeated teams left in FBS. Although the Horned Frogs are 12-0, they do not carry the same gravitas as fellow undefeated teams and traditional powers in No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Michigan. While Georgia can lose to LSU in Atlanta and still get in, as with Michigan vs. Purdue in Indianapolis, we cannot be entirely so sure TCU can suffer a loss of any sort to K-State.

Here are three of the boldest predictions possible for the second-most important game being played over Championship Weekend across all of major college football.

Kansas State vs. TCU: Predictions for Big 12 Championship Game

3. Win or lose, the Kansas State Wildcats will be going to the Sugar Bowl, baby!

No matter the final score, one thing is certain: Kansas State will be heading to the Sugar Bowl for the first time ever in program history. The Wildcats are 9-3 (7-2) on the season, but the possibility of being 9-4 and Sugar Bowl bound could not taste any sweeter. This situation is entirely based on the Sugar Bowl having Big 12 vs. SEC ties in years that it is not a part of the College Football Playoff.

If TCU beats Kansas State, the Horned Frogs are going to the playoff, and the Wildcats are going to the Sugar Bowl. Should K-State pull off the upset to end TCU’s perfect season, the Wildcats are still going to the Sugar Bowl. TCU could still get into the playoff, but K-State cannot. Even if TCU loses, the Frogs will be going to another New Year’s Six bowl, while Big 12 K-State heads to NOLA.

Unless LSU beats Georgia in Atlanta, Kansas State will face Alabama in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
