3) Padres add to their super-team by signing Kodai Senga

The Padres don’t need to quite “go there” by signing Carlos Rodon, as fantastic of a move as it would be. Instead, go for Kodai Senga. Have Yu Darvish talk about how wonderful it is to be in San Diego.

The Padres have plenty of starting pitching depth. Signing Senga could allow them to move Adrian Morejon to the bullpen if needed. This is a ball club that has already lost Sean Manaea and Mike Clevinger in free agency. They have a stellar top three with Darvish and Joe Musgrove as co-aces. Let’s add one more to make it really work out.

Finding balance will be important for the Padres. They shouldn’t rely too much on their pitching or hitting. The offense has plenty of questions left that aren’t even solved with these three moves mentioned here. San Diego is loading up on the stars first. They can plug in the holes later on.

Things like giving Joey Gallo a chance in the shift-free era of MLB could turn out to be an amazing move. The Padres shouldn’t stop spending. As much as the thought may disgust them, taking a page out of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ playbook is important.

First base is also a need for them, although they could be planning to have Fernando Tatis Jr. move over there with Bogaerts now in the mix. The outfield is another possibility.

The Padres love building super-teams. This one seems to be headed in a much better direction than the 2015 club that, looking back now, doesn’t come closer to matching what they have now.
