Stetson Bennett IV will be selected by some NFL team, but not before day three

This time a year ago, people were immensely skeptical on Stetson Bennett IV as a pro prospect. He may have excellent dual-threat playmaking abilities, great leadership at the line of scrimmage and throws and underrated deep ball. However, it has been very difficult for Bennett to shed his former walk-on label, despite being a Heisman finalist. Will The Mailman deliver post on Sundays?

I have been saying this for about a year now that Bennett is Georgia’s version of Ian Book, albeit an older and better version of the former Notre Dame starter now. Book went to the New Orleans Saints in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Bennett’s competitiveness, college career and overall football acumen will get him drafted. He should make an NFL roster, at least as a rookie.

Given that other former Georgia quarterbacks of note were drafted, whether that be Matthew Stafford, Aaron Murray, David Greene, Jake Fromm or D.J. Shockley, someone will select Bennett this spring, probably on day three. As to where he could go, Bennett should go to a team that will accentuate his strengths and have a committed ground attack. He will be a great teammate, too.

Look for well-run teams like the San Francisco 49ers or Tennessee Titans to take a chance on him.

Prediction: Fourth or fifth round pick, a backup role with someone like the San Francisco 49ers
