Dak Prescott found a way to see the positive from the Dallas Cowboys’ near disaster vs. the Houston Texans on Sunday afternoon.

While a win is a win is a win, Dak Prescott’s Dallas Cowboys almost lost to the Houston Texans.

For a minute there, it really looked like America’s Team was going to lose at home to the worst team in football. If not for the Texans doing Texans things at the worst possible time, Dallas would have suffered one of the worst defeats on the season. However, a late Ezekiel Elliott touchdown run ultimately lifted the Cowboys past the Texans 27-23 to improve to a stellar 10-3 on the year.

Even if there was next to nothing enjoyable for the Cowboys outside of the final score outcome, Prescott was able to somehow find a way to see the silver lining in all this.

"“This will serve us more than I think the Minnesota game or even the way we finished the last game when it comes down to it because we’re going to play some tough games as we get going,” said Prescott to ESPN’s Todd Archer after the game. “You got to play games like [this], one-score games here in the back end against our division or whether it be the playoffs. Just for us to have that confidence and trust in one another and continue to tighten our bond is something that we’re going to need.”"

Given that Dallas is one of roughly four teams in the NFC that can get to the Super Bowl, perhaps Prescott is right in his biggest takeaway from the ballgame? Good teams find ways to win games like this.

Dak Prescott looks for the positive in the Dallas Cowboys’ near upset defeat

Although Prescott may take some flak for this comment, this is why he is a franchise quarterback. He is simply outstanding at the podium. His skill set and more importantly, his determination have made him a regular top-12 quarterback in the league. However, it is in moments like these where he regularly sets himself apart. Being able to see the good in a bad performance is not that easy.

Truth be told, this is the exact type of game the Cowboys rarely ever win. The glorified hype machine routinely oversells itself and under-delivers in the most painful of moments. Although dropping a dumb game like this one should have gone to the Texans would not have signified season over, Prescott is right in that this is a moment in which Dallas shined through adversity.

Ultimately, a little bit of mettle will go a long way in seeing how deep of a playoff run the Cowboys have up their sleeve. They are not likely going to win the NFC East, but if they have it within themselves to be battle-tested road warriors, not many teams in a down conference will want the Cowboys walking into their building come January. Once again, a lesser team would have lost here.

These are the type of victories that are necessary to help cultivate a potential champion around.
