3 Yankees moves to still make even after signing Carlos Rodon No. 1: Trade for Bryan Reynolds

The biggest move the Yankees could make is to give the front office of the Pittsburgh Pirates front office and negotiate a deal for outfielder Bryan Reynolds.

Reynolds spent the first four years of his major league career with the Pirates, after they acquired him from the San Francisco Giants in the Andrew McCutchen deal. In 2019, he finished fourth in NL Rookie of the Year voting. In 2021, Reynolds was named an All-Star.

Through all four seasons, Reynolds recorded a .281 batting average, a .361 on-base percentage, a .481 slugging percentage, 74 home runs, 239 RBI, 274 runs scored, and 500 hits.

Reynolds is not going to come at a cheap price. He is under contract through the 2024 season and the Pirates reportedly want a lot in return. It will take multiple top prospects to get a deal done, but he won’t add too much to the payroll.

If the Yankees want to go out and have a legitimate shot at representing the American League in the World Series, they need to bring in a batter who can get on base. That’s what Reynolds brings, and the Yankees should jump at the opportunity to acquire him.
