5 breakout fantasy football stars to pick up for Week 16
2. Top Fantasy Football Pickups For Week 16 – Jacksonville Jaguars WR Zay Jones
Much like the Lions, the Jacksonville Jaguars have surged down the stretch to climb into the playoff hunt. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has taken a huge step forward towards the end of his second season and his performance has elevated the play of Jacksonville’s pass catchers.
The primary beneficiary of Lawrence’s Week 16 efforts was Zay Jones, who caught 6-of-8 targets for 109 yards and three touchdowns. That performance likely won playoff weeks for anyone who started Jones but it is part of a promising trend for the sixth-year man out of East Carolina.
Jones has been a target hog since Week 10, averaging 10.2 targets per game as he has formed a strong connection with Lawrence. That five-game stretch has seen Jones put together a 36/415/4 line with a two-point conversion for good measure, numbers that are more in line with a WR2 than a mere flex play.
There is still an opportunity to get in on Jones, who is rostered in 54 percent of leagues, ahead of Thursday night’s showdown with the Jets at MetLife Stadium. New York’s secondary is strong but Jones should still put together a usable PPR line for teams in need of help at the WR3 position.
