3) Max Fried rumors: A trade package from the Twins

The Minnesota Twins came up short last season in their quest to win the American League Central then storm into the playoffs. Their collapse was due to several reasons. Now without Carlos Correa, the team should be in the market to make some big moves. One of them could involve trading for Max Fried. It would give them a youngish arm for the rotation. What would it cost to acquire him?

Now that Dansy Swanson has officially left the Braves organization for the Chicago Cubs, the team can start looking at shortstops of the future. The Twins have quite a few on the farm and within the organization. Royce Lewis would be a nice addition for the Braves, but knee surgery in 2022 could have them pivoting toward Brooks Lee instead. Lee is currently the 32nd best prospect in baseball, the Braves snag him plus outfielder Max Kepler and pitcher Bailey Ober from the MLB roster. Prospect Emmanuel Rodriguez also changes uniforms in this deal.

In 2023, this means Vaughn Grissom stays as their shortstop. The Twins gain an incredible pitcher while the Braves look to move everyone up one spot and allow Ober to compete with others for the fifth starter spot. Kepler gives them a corner outfielder looking to rebound from a down year in 2022. Rodriguez serves the purpose of giving the Braves something to look forward to in the future as well.

When it comes to a hypothetical Max Fried trade, the Twins should allow them to pick from any of the shortstops they would like. Minnesota has a couple of options. The Braves should get to pick which one they want.
