NFL QBs who deserve to be benched after Week 15

Matt Ryan, Colts

Matt Ryan just needs to retire. It’s just sad watching the quarterback persist with the Colts. He got benched in Week 8 for a reason. He got his starting job back, and things haven’t changed. He’s lost his last four starts including a truly painful loss in the biggest comeback in NFL history.

Indianapolis’ defense bears plenty of the blame for that comeback loss. They choked hard at the end of that game. However, the defense and special teams produced two touchdowns in the game. Ryan and the offense found the endzone once while settling for five field goals. They managed just three points in the second half.

Blame the defense all you want, but if the offense had managed even one good drive in the midst of the Vikings comeback it could have changed everything. After the Vikings scored their second touchdown of the game, Ryan’s offense didn’t have a drive of more than five plays for 20 yards for the rest of regulation.

Ryan is not the future of the franchise. Sam Ehlinger might not be either but it would be better to find out if he’s got something in the final, meaningless weeks of the season.
