2. Teams that could be in the mix to trade for Jakob Poeltl: Chicago Bulls

At the moment, things look bleak for the Chicago Bulls. They are, in a word, bad. And, the problem is, they might be bad for a while. The biggest thing the Bulls could do to try and blow it up, similarly to the Spurs, is to trade Zach LaVine and that contract of his.

But, another trade asset they’re sitting on is the expiring deal of Nikola Vucevic. Like Poeltl, Vucevic will be an unrestricted free agent after this season. Would the Spurs be willing to do some type of swap including Poeltl and Vucevic?

The hope with a deal like this is that Poeltl could help right the wrongs that Chicago has made to this point. But, the Bulls would likely have to give up a pick along with Vucevic, since Poeltl would likely fetch a first-round selection.

Trading for Poeltl also means the Bulls believe they will get Lonzo Ball back at some point — the real reason they look like a different team this season. If the Bulls were to make a move for Poeltl, you could almost be assured that Ball is going to be back during the regular season.

Lastly, the hope for Bulls fans would be that Chicago knew they could re-sign Poeltl next summer. If not, there is no reason to trade for him.
