1 player Steelers helped immensely: Minkah Fitzpatrick

There haven’t been many trades that worked out better than Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was struggling to find his place with the Miami Dolphins, but the Steelers threw them a first-round pick to bring Fitzpatrick into their defense. He immediately made an impact, and now he’s one of the leaders in that unit.

Fitzpatrick provides a calming presence in the Steelers secondary. He moved to free safety, which is undoubtedly the right move. He had 74 total tackles, four interceptions, and nine deflected passes. If he gets one more interception, it will tie his career high. Only four players in the league have more interceptions than Fitzpatrick. The Steelers constantly put him in the right position with its schemes.

Fitzpatrick is still surprisingly young. Despite playing six seasons in this league, he’s only 26 years old. He is firmly in the prime of his career. Watt and Fitzpatrick are going to be the rocks in this defense for a long time.

Fitzpatrick helps the Steelers as much as the Steelers help him. He helped the team kick off the season right. He not only had an interception of Joe Burrow that he took for a touchdown and blocked a kick in Week 1. He’s still a playmaker, and that’s because the Steelers put him in a position to make plays.
