3 Eagles most to blame for Christmas Eve nightmare loss to Cowboys, No. 1 Gardner Minshew, QB

One of the big reasons why the Cowboys were victorious on Saturday is because they won the turnover battle. While Dak Prescott did throw a pick six on Dallas’ first drive of the game, they didn’t turn the football over for the remainder of the game.

As for the Eagles, they turned the football over four times, resulting in the Cowboys scoring 20 points. We already covered Sanders’ fumble that resulted in a Dallas field goal the following drive. The other three turnovers belonged to quarterback Gardner Minshew.

On Philadelphia’s second drive of the game, Minshew threw a pass intended for Quez Watkins, but it was intercepted by safety Jayron Kearse. Six plays later, the Cowboys scored a touchdown on a pass from Prescott to wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to take a 17-14 lead.

Minshew’s second turnover of the game took place on their second drive of the second half, where he fumbled the football, allowing Kearse to recover it. Five plays later, Prescott connected with Michael Gallup on a 12-yard touchdown pass, tying the game up at 27-27.

The final turnover from the quarterback was an interception on another pass intended for Watkins, but it was picked off by cornerback DaRon Bland. That set up the aforementioned 48-yard field goal by Maher.

Minshew did have a respectable game, completing 24-of-40 pass attempts for 355 yards and two touchdowns. But, those three turnovers gave Dallas 17 points.
