3 NFL QBs who deserve to be benched after Week 16, No. 2: Malik Willis, Tennessee Titans

This is a tough choice, simply because the Tennessee Titans will have to go with Malik Willis moving forward. The reason being, Ryan Tannehill just underwent surgery on a high right ankle sprain and is expected to be out for the rest of the season. With no other viable options, the Titans will see what Willis can do.

He had a decent shot to pick up his first win as a starter, as Tennessee took on the one-win Houston Texans. Instead, the Titans could only pick up 14 points.

Willis didn’t provide much in terms of the passing game, recording 14 completions for 99 yards on 23 attempts. He threw two interceptions, each coming in Tennessee’s final two drives of the game. Willis’ first interception took place when he threw a pass while getting hit, allowing Texans linebacker Christian Harris to pick it off. The second interception was on a last second Hail Mary attempt, but that landed right in the hands of defensive back Jalen Pitre.

The rookie quarterback did run for 43 yards on seven carries, one of which was a 14-yard touchdown run.

Yes, the passing attack is not as vibrant as it once was without wide receiver A.J. Brown, and the protection at the line of scrimmage isn’t the greatest. However, Willis didn’t really inspire much confidence in Week 16.
