Yet another primetime game that looked good on paper when the schedules were released before the season but have since withered away to be a “who cares?” matchup at the end of the season.
The driving storyline in this one is Tom Brady needing to keep his playoff streak alive by winning as many games as possible to defend their NFC South lead.
A win here would increase the Bucs’ playoff appearance likelihood from 74% to 81% according to FiveThirtyEight’s model.
The Cardinals, though, have more or less closed the chapter on this season. At 4-10, they’re third in the NFC West and mathematically eliminated from the postseason. Time to start resting starters and thinking about next season.
This one should be all Buccaneers, but Tampa has routinely made things more difficult than necessary this year, so we’ll see how that actually plays out.
