3 head coaches Broncos need to hire to fix Russell Wilson

Sean Payton is the Broncos No. 1 choice
Former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton is looking to return to coaching next season. While the Dallas Cowboys — the team he was long linked to — likely won’t come calling thanks to Mike McCarthy’s success, Payton should have plenty of options.
Payton turned Drew Brees into a Hall-of-Fame caliber quarterback. Surely he can take Russell Wilson, a player who was already on the fringe of that conversation, into the total package. Wilson is only one season removed from moderate success, and two removed from the Pro Bowl conversation. With Payton helping him through his progressions, it’s only a matter of time until Broncos fans see some improvement.
Denver can potentially get out of Wilson’s contract after the 2023 season (at a significant price of course), so don’t be surprised to see them add a free-agent QB to compete with him in training camp. Jacoby Brissett, among others, makes sense.
Brissett won’t win the Broncos a Super Bowl, though. He’s far from that quality. When Denver traded for Wilson, they assumed they were getting that type of signal-caller. That is Payton’s mission, and he should do so with Wilson by his side, for better or worse.
