4 teams that can save Josh Jacobs from his Raiders nightmare
Josh Jacobs rumors: Buffalo Bills
The Bills have a top-end (and still relatively young) quarterback in Josh Allen, one of the best wide receivers in the NFL in Stefon Diggs and some other interesting offensive pieces who seem likely to be around for awhile (Gabriel Davis, Isaiah McKenzie, Dawson Knox). But a consistent running game, outside of Allen’s prowess as a runner, has been elusive.
Devin Singletary is a solid back, and rookie James Cook is an interesting player with seemingly a bright future as a key piece of Buffalo’s offense. Singletary is going to be a free agent though, and over time the Bills have not quite taken fully aggressive measures (Zack Moss and Cook in the draft, albeit with the jury not fully in on Cook yet) to upgrade over him or outright replace him as their lead back.
When it became clear the Raiders had no future use for Jacobs, the Bills surfaced as a team who could have interest in trading for him. That obviously didn’t happen at or before the trade deadline, but Jacobs lingers as a possible missing piece of what’s already a very good offense.
For now, cap space looks like a thing for the Bills as they look to add any pieces in free agency. But contract restructures, cuts, etc. are in play to create some room to operate, and renewed interest in Jacobs as he hits the open market feels too easy for Buffalo.
