NFL mock draft: Jets have the tools to trade up for Bryce Young

The Jets hit on just about all of their draft picks in 2022. This regime, finally, knows how to identify talent in the NFL Draft.

Despite a similar frame, Bryce Young is not Zach Wilson, and played far greater competition in his college football career at Alabama. Wilson played for BYU, then a Group-of-5 school which wasn’t forced to face much Power-5 competition regularly until bowl season. Wilson was electric in college, and resembled a Johnny Manziel-type. Young is anything but that as a consistent pocket passer.

The one thing holding back a Jets-Young connection are recent rumors that New York could be linked to the likes of Jimmy Garoppolo, or even Derek Carr in the trade market. A veteran quarterback would be a good addition to this young Jets team which needs direction. Selecting Young would provide them with that, but might push their timeline back a year.

It’s a tough decision for Robert Saleh and Co., which currently have the No. 15 overall selections in the first round.
