Skip Bayless suggested two intriguing options for the Raiders at quarterback in 2023 as they plan to move on from Derek Carr.

Who will quarterback the Raiders in 2023?

The only certain answer to that question at the moment is “Not Derek Carr.”

The Raiders benched the veteran quarterback for the final two games of the regular season, plugging in Jarrett Stidham in his place. It was a shocking move that made their future clear and murky at the same time.

Skip Bayless came away from LV’s overtime loss to the 49ers on Sunday with two options in mind: First, Tom Brady. Second, stick to Stidham.

“Raider Nation: Jarrett Stidham could be interesting next season … if it doesn’t work out with Brady,” Bayless tweeted.

The Brady idea isn’t a new one. The Bucs quarterback will be a free agent after this season and the struggles of Tampa Bay this year could prompt him to head elsewhere — if he chooses not to retire of course. Going to Las Vegas would mean reuniting with former Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. It could certainly be on the table.

The second option from Bayless is considerably less encouraging.

Stidham did surprisingly well against the vaunted San Francisco defense. He threw three touchdown passes and led the Raiders to 34 points. They are only the second team this season to put up more than 30 points on the 49ers next to the Chiefs.

However, the former fourth-round pick who McDaniels brought in via a trade from New England also threw two interceptions. It would be quite the gamble for the Raiders to bet on Stidham after that performance, even if he does well in his next start.

Raiders fans should hope McDaniels has bigger aspirations than Stidham as a backup plan to Brady.
