The Pittsburgh Steelers have stayed alive in the playoff hunt and are now looking into adding the son of a Hall-of-Famer ahead of the postseason.

Just a few weeks ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers looked completely toast in terms of their playoff chances. But as Mike Tomlin looks to avoid the first season of his career in which his team would finish below .500, he’s still on track to avoid that. More importantly, if he does, the Steelers also have a chance at a postseason berth.

So with a Week 18 matchup with the division-rival Ravens looming, Pittsburgh isn’t wasting any possible chance to upgrade the roster. That includes bringing in the son of a Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver in for a workout.

On Tuesday, per the league’s transaction wire, tight end Thaddeus Moss came in for a workout with the Steelers. He is the son of Vikings and Patriots legend Randy Moss.

Steelers work out TE Thaddeus Moss, son of Randy Moss, with playoff chances still alive

Thaddeus Moss was part of the 2019-20 LSU team with Joe Burrow that won the national championship, but went undrafted in 2020, eventually signing with Washington as a UDFA. He was waived in April 2021 after missing his rookie season due to injury and landed with the Bengals where he spent the 2021 campaign almost wholly on the practice squad and was eventually released at from there ahead of Week 1 in 2022.

In his lone season at LSU, Moss racked up 47 catches for 570 yards and four touchdowns in the offense. His NFL career, obviously, has not followed the footsteps of his prolific father to this point.

While the Steelers are healthy right now at tight end, starter Pat Freiermuth has dealt with injuries throughout the season and depth at the position could be paramount. Thus, it makes sense to bring Moss in for a look to see if he’s able to provide that. However, no deal is imminent at this point.
