Warriors who are stepping up without Steph Curry: Klay Thompson

Last, you have the current catalyst, Klay Thompson. The man has been on fire lately and just posted his first 50-point outburst since enduring those nasty knee injuries.

Over his last four games, Thompson has scored 24, 29, 31 and then 54 points. In those four contests, he’s combined to make a ridiculous 25 three-pointers and is shooting a blistering 42 percent from long distance.

Just this past game against the Hawks, it was the Klay Thompson show. He attempted 39 of the team’s 121 field goals, good for just about one-third of the Warriors’ shots. Without Curry, the Warriors have needed a go-to scorer, and Thompson has been the man for the job.

This current stretch he’s on is even more impressive considering the rut Thompson was in the previous four games, where he failed to break 15 points in three of four contests.

He’s turned things around in a massive way, stepping up while knowing his guys need an offensive leader without Steph — and proving the Warriors are still a team to worry about with or without Curry.
