Short-term Carlos Correa destinations: New York Yankees

Look, I understand it’s borderline annoying to see the Yankees brought up anytime there’s a halfway notable name available. But the pinstripes have money to spend and an edict from the top after signing Aaron Judge to do whatever is needed to win.

Isaiah Kiner-Falefa just doesn’t appear to be the long-term shortstop in New York. It could be time to turn the keys over to Oswald Peraza, but giving him another year to get ready while they go with a proven star in Correa could be what helps them unlock the season.

Adding Correa would give the Yankees the confidence to put IKF on the trade market.

The Yankees, like other teams who may pursue Correa if he opens up to a short-term deal, probably can’t get in for a deal at the length and total value that the Giants and Mets have thrown at him. But for a year or two? Sure, why not.

Yankees fans might have to get through the cognitive dissonance of wanting to boo him for his role in the Astros sign-stealing scandal every time he comes to the plate, though.
