The Chicago Bears clinched the No.1 overall pick. With Alabama quarterback Bryce Young expected to be the top draft pick, several teams will call Chicago about trading up to No. 1

By losing to Minnesota and Houston beating Indianapolis, the Chicago Bears clinched the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Bring on Bryce Young.

Wait, the Bears already have a franchise quarterback in Justin Fields… So that means there are several options to work with. By having control of the top overall pick, the Windy City is in a prime position to make a statement by either staying where they are and taking someone like Will Anderson Jr or perhaps trading down with a desperate team and acquiring a boatload of draft capital in return.

The latter is likely to happen. But who would be so desperate to move up to the top pick and secure the rights to Bryce Young? The answer is several teams. Here’s a list of three potential suitors.

Jim Irsay has come out publicly and stated that he is tired of the revolving door at the quarterback position. As such, the Hoosier State is ready to make a move to find a franchise quarterback. But with that comes a problem. They may have to trade up to get one, and with the Bears holding the top overall pick, they are an option.

Head coach Matt Eberflus came from the Colts organization and has close ties to the team. As such, negotiations are bound to take place, but the asking price is going to be high. At least two if not three first-round picks are going to be required. If the Bears are serious about their rebuild, that’s how many picks it will cost at a minimum. More may be asked.

Additionally, players may be involved in the deals as well as Chicago has multiple holes on their roster to fill. If the Colts want to jump Houston and get a quarterback before they do, this is their only chance to make that happen, unless the Texans trade down to get more picks. Speaking of the Texans, they are next.
