NFL Playoff Picture: Updated NFC Playoff Picture after Week 18

Nothing in the early window could be decided in the NFC. The only team playing with anything on the line was the Minnesota Vikings, who needed to win to stay alive for the No. 2 seed and put pressure on the San Francisco 49ers to win.

Tampa Bay was the only other NFC playoff team playing in the early window, but their game against the Falcons meant nothing for playoff seeding.

Here’s a look at what the NFC Playoff picture would look like if the postseason started today:

  1. Philadelphia Eagles (13-3) – Clinched NFC East + No. 1 seed
  2. San Francisco 49ers (12-4) – Clinched NFC West + No. 2 seed
  3. Minnesota Vikings (13-4) –  Clinched NFC North + No. 3 seed
  4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-9) – Clinched NFC South + No. 4 seed
  5. Dallas Cowboys (12-4) – Clinched Playoff Wild Card
  6. New York Giants (9-6-1) – Clinched Wild Card
  7. Seattle Seahawks (9-8) – Clinched Wild Card

Based on those standings, here’s what the playoff matchups would look like for the first weekend of action:

  • (2) San Francisco 49ers vs. (7) Seattle Seahawks
  • (3) Minnesota Vikings vs. (6) New York Giants
  • (4) Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. (5) Dallas Cowboys

Each higher-seeded team would host its Wild Card Weekend matchup. Right now, the Philadelphia Eagles would have a first-round bye with the No. 1 seed and host any playoff game they play in.
