10. Week 10 College Basketball Power Rankings – Arizona Wildcats

  • Previously: 4th
  • Record: 14-2 (3-2 in Pac-12)
  • Last Week: Won 70-67 Vs. Washington, Lost 74-61 Vs. Washington State
  • This Week: At Oregon State 1/12, At Oregon 1/14

It’s fair to say that Washington State is a better team than its record would indicate, but national title contenders can’t lose by 13 at home to a team entering the contest with a 6-10 record. Arizona’s guard play was exposed by the Washington schools and is an issue worth monitoring during the Wildcats’ Oregon trip this week which features a dangerous matchup on Saturday night against the Ducks.

9. Week 10 College Basketball Power Rankings – Xavier Musketeers

  • Previously: Honorable Mention
  • Record: 13-3 (5-0 in Big East)
  • Last Week: Won 88-80 At Villanova
  • This Week: Vs. Creighton 1/11, Vs. Marquette 1/15

In a league where Creighton entered with Final Four hopes and UCONN stormed out to a 13-0 start, everyone is looking up at Xavier, who has only lost to Indiana, Duke and Gonzaga on the season. The Musketeers will have two stiff home tests this week as the Bluejays come to the Cintas Center on Wednesday before Marquette pays a visit on Sunday.

8. Week 10 College Basketball Power Rankings – UCONN Huskies

  • Previously: 5th
  • Record: 15-2 (4-2 in Big East)
  • Last Week: Lost 73-61 At Providence, Won 69-60 Vs. Creighton
  • This Week: At Marquette 1/11, Vs. St. John’s 1/15

The Huskies suffered another tough road loss as they got blitzed by Providence, but UCONN deserves credit by bouncing back with a gritty victory over a fully-healthy Creighton team on Saturday. This week’s road trip to Marquette will be another challenge for UCONN, which has been absorbing the best shots of all of their opponents in a Big East that is loaded at the top.

7. Week 10 College Basketball Power Rankings – UCLA Bruins

  • Previously: 9th
  • Record: 14-2 (5-0 in Pac-12)
  • Last Week: Won 60-58 Vs. USC
  • This Week: Vs. Utah 1/12, Vs. Colorado 1/14

USC made a furious comeback at Pauley Pavilion on Thursday but the Bruins did just enough to hold on to improve to 5-0 in league play. With Arizona’s stumble against Washington State, UCLA can open up some runway over the Wildcats with wins over Utah and Colorado at home.

6. Week 10 College Basketball Power Rankings – Purdue Boilermakers

  • Previously: 1st
  • Record: 15-1 (4-1 in Big Ten)
  • Last Week: Lost 65-64 Vs. Rutgers, Won 71-69 At Ohio State, Won 76-63 Vs. Penn State
  • This Week: Vs. Nebraska 1/13

No one seriously expected Purdue to go undefeated so it comes as no shock that they lost a game in a week where they had to deal with three Big Ten contests. Bouncing back with a tough road win at Ohio State does show us this team is still very good and can’t be dinged too much for losing by a point to a quality Rutgers side.
