West. Scouting Report. 2. player. 32. Pick Analysis. NFC. Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals must not overthink this if Jalen Carter falls into their lap

It was a challenging year for the Arizona Cardinals to say the very least. After being the last team to lose a game a year ago, Arizona finds itself picking inside of the top 10. Should the Cardinals end up picking inside of the top five, they do not need to overthink this. If Carter is still available, then the Cardinals need to draft him. This is because Will Anderson will already be off the board.

With J.J. Watt retiring after this season, Arizona needs some bite in the trenches in the worst way possible. The Cardinals will have lost Watt and Chandler Jones in back-to-back seasons. Defensive prowess has been a big reason why this franchise has had a great deal of success over the last 15 seasons or so. For now, they need a defensive star who can hold his own alongside Kyler Murray.

Games are won and lost in the trenches. This is why Arizona should take the best defensive line prospect available. They may not need to trade up to get either Anderson or Carter with Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud expected to go very high as well. If the Cardinals play their cards right, they could end up with a top-two defensive playmaker by getting to, or potentially sitting at, No. 4.

Carter has the potential to be a total franchise-changing player for whatever team he does go to.
