Ranking NFL quarterbacks based on 2022: 26. Russell Wilson, Broncos
Boy, what an absolute mess. The Denver Broncos thought they had hit a home run when they traded for Russell Wilson. Instead, he winds up in this position on a list like this. There is no telling what the Broncos are going to do with Wilson in the near future, but it seems nothing is off the table.
While Broncos brass wants everyone to believe that “Russ is fixable,” that sentence in and of itself is an indictment on Wilson. We can’t be too sure what exactly is going to happen in the coming months. Sure, a head coach replacement is going to surface. But, will Wilson stick around? Or will the Broncos eat all of that dead money?
This season went the opposite most had assumed it would, with the Broncos being far from playoff contention and instead towards the bottom of the league. Wilson was rumored to have lost some of his teammates at one point, and just hasn’t looked like the same quarterback we had seen for years now.
To finish his 2022 campaign, Wilson wound up with 3,524 passing yards. But, he tallied career lows in completion percentage (60.5), touchdown passes (16), touchdown percentage (3.3) and tied his second-most interceptions with 11.
