Eagles fans are waiting with bated breath to hear whether or not Lane Johnson will play in the NFL Divisional Round. He provided a pretty clear update.

Forget waiting for Adam Schefter or some other reporter to Tweet it out. These days we get it straight from the source, baby! After Lamar Jackson took his injury rumors into his own hands this week, Philadelphia Eagles tackle Lane Johnson did just the same when he appeared on the Pat McAffee show on Friday.

Lane Johnson suffered a groin injury in Week 16, and after clarifiing that the injury wasn’t an abdomen injury, it’s an adductor injury, he spoke on his status.

Here was his conversation with McAfee.

"“LJ: [Nick] Bosa had this last year, Nick had this and then got it fixed. I think it’s like a two-month recovery so after the surgery so it won’t be too bad.PM: Where are we at with you, six? Five?LJ: Uh, yeah, we haven’t had the surgery yet but I feel, I’ll get it after the season.PM: So you’re playing next week or what do we think?LJ: Ohhh, I’m, I’m playing.PM: Let’s go! What a dog, dude.LJ: Gonna wrap this thing up and see what happens.”"

The Eagles earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC and with it, a bye for the first week of the playoffs. That has earned them the ability to rest important pieces like Johnson.

Eagles should be excited to have Lane Johnson back for Divisional Round

Getting Johnson back is huge for the divisional round, and its a big part of what you play for during the regular season, and why it’s worth pushing for that No. 1 seed. A Wild Card Round bye gets you healthy and rested and makes your path to a title so much easier.

Johnson has given up no sacks all year long and graded 83.2 on Pro Football Focus. He played in every game but the Eagles final of the season, and played 60 snaps or more 11 times in 2023.
