1. Bills 41, Oilers 38 (OT) (AFC: 1992)

It’s hard to believe it’s been 30 years since this memorable contest. This game owned the title of the greatest comeback in NFL history until 2022 when the home-standing Minnesota Vikings fell behind the Indianapolis Colts, 33-0, in Week 15 and rallying for a 39-36 overtime victory.

In any case, this wild card matchup saw Warren Moon and the Houston Oilers open up a 35-3 third-quarter lead against Marv Levy’s club. The latter was led by backup quarterback Frank Reich, starting for an injured Jim Kelly. Houston’s fifth touchdown of the game came when Reich had an interception returned 58 yards for a touchdown by Oilers’ safety Bubba McDowell.

Then things got interesting. The Bills would come all the way back and scored 35 consecutive points to take a 38-35 lead in the fourth quarter. However, Jack Pardee’s club wasn’t finished and a field goal sent the teams into overtime. On the third play from scrimmage of the extra session, Moon was intercepted by Nate Odomes and the Bills picked up an extra 15 yards on a personal foul.

Bills’ kicker Steve Christie’s 32-yard boot capped a remarkable rally that saw Reich finish with 289 yards through the air and four touchdowns.
